Let It Rain

Sitting in Grover Beach Hall

All of man’s troubles come from his inability to sit alone, quietly, in a room, for any length of time.

– Blaise Pascal

There is great peace in being alone; alone to do the things most necessary in life. Alone to find peace, alone to find oneself. This rains I am alone; and though it would have been a terrifying thought ten years ago, now it brings only strength and inner peace. Alone, the quiet itself is bliss.

I began the process of discovering this truth for myself on a Goenka retreat (at least 'alone' inasmuch as complete lack of interaction). I really enjoy this sentiment; it rings as true dhamma. Keep it up venerable, Budusaranai!
