An amazing thing; for perhaps the first time in many years, I am alone. My friend from Suriname left today, and I find myself the only human amongst the teak trees in the shadow of this small mountain, my closest companion a stray cat that wanders in and out of the centre on whim. There is an incredible quiet in being alone, more than simply a lack of sound. It is this very quiet, found only in solitude, that is so praised by the noble ones. It is in this quiet that the greatest work is accomplished.
Hi ho, hi ho.
