A Hard-Knock Life

Feeling like Little Orphan Annie... no home, no family, stale food and leaking roof, and tonight shouted at like I haven't been since I was a small child. But as I lie here wondering whether my assailant will return, I start to truly appreciate the way the Buddha's teaching has application in the little details of life, like how to keep your mouth shut, for starters. But also, sending love as a weapon against hate and living in the present moment (in case your assailant is packing).
Buddhism is not a religion only for those dwelling in the forest, nor is it only for Buddhists. It is not something just in books or in the ancient past. It is a matter regarding the heart, and everyone has a heart. Even the bad guys. It's just a pity most of us never get good at using it right. Please, everyone, let us learn to use our hearts in the right way, before it is to late.
