It is clearly a better thing to suffer in purity than to revel in even the slightest impurity. And, though it goes without saying that it would be a far better thing to dwell happily in that same state of purity, it is clear that the only reason for said suffering is an ingrained apperception of that which is thoroughly rotton as being pleasurable. Since such apperceptions exist abundently in this world, it is not hard to see both the reason for such pain and suffering as exist equally abundently and the reason why we are unable to bring ourselves to freedom from said suffering. Briefly put, “the mind doth delight in evil.”
