It occurs to me that a very important question to ask oneself in any undertaking is "what am I doing this for?" Because one can perform the same task for a variety of different reasons, and success or failure often depends very much on those reasons, as does the quality of the outcome. I realised that the best reason for doing what I am doing is as a sacrifice. Sacrificing all of my wants and preferences, all of my anger and hate, sacrificing my whole being for goodness and the benefit of the world. I don't expect to change the world, I only hope I make a decent splash on the water before going under.
