L.A. Whoa Man

The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright--
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.

-- Through the Looking Glass, Lewis Carroll

Ah, yes, here I am in this looking glass world, everything backwords and upside down. Breakfast at 10 PM; lunch at 2 AM. The sun refusing to shine all day, so I stay in bed until night when the sun comes up, and go teach meditation until morning.

So many people, so much love and joy, such goodness. I wonder if I would have been sickened by such a thing ten years ago. I'm surely sickened now by my life ten years ago :D

I wish I had recordings of everything I said, so I could share it with all of you out there. So much goodness, so much progress. L.A. is one hip place - and the hippest of them all are crowded into a back room in North Hollywood, averaging in age around 60+ and doing the slowest dance you've ever seen. Here we walk slow, and when we sit a hush comes over the whole room.

Etha passathima.m loka.m,
citta.m rājarathūpama.m;
yattha bālā visīdanti,
natthi sango vijānata.m.

Come look at this world
all decked out like a royal chariot,
where fools plunge in,
and the wise have no connection.
