Know the Deed By Its Fruit

Sitting in the rice field, under an old tree, practicing old teachings; the silent grace of the old.

Whatever is the seed one sows,
That ever will be the fruit one reaps;
The doer of beautiful deeds, beauty,
The doer of evil, evil.

-- The Buddha (Samyutta Nikaya, Sagathavagga)

When one is mindful, one can truly know whether a deed is well- or ill-performed. One can know whether one's mind is filled with greed or anger when one acts, speaks or thinks, and one can clearly see the fruit of every deed.

Thus may we strive on in mindfulness!
